A Message for Virtual Learning Families
This is a virtual learning experience which will include virtual platforms that are specifically chosen by each school and will differ from school to school. The child's teacher, mentor teacher or group of teachers will be assigned to each virtual learner and will offer academic support via email with the primary instructional component being the software program.
The teacher assigned to your child will be in contact with you regarding the online learner details. The use of online programs such as IXL, MobyMax, StudyIsland and Edgenuity (middle and high schools only) will vary from school to school, but all students will have access to online programs as a means to practice standards and skills. Internet access will be required to access virtual learning. For students who do not have access to a Chromebook or similar device, one will be available at the child’s school upon request.
Remaining in contact with your child’s teacher will be very important for a successful virtual learning experience. Teachers will be available to assist with virtual learning and will provide their contact information and available times to parents and students. However, Google Meet and other similar platforms used during spring 2020 when schools were closed will not be utilized. The fall virtual learner experience will be much more independent of the learner and family than the spring 2020 implementation. Students’ assignments will be remotely monitored and recorded in PowerSchool.
We want to ensure a consistent and quality learning experience for both our virtual learners and students in traditional classrooms. We ask parents who are considering the virtual learning option to commit to a full semester of virtual learning to ensure a smooth transition as students return to the classroom setting during the spring semester.
We appreciate your patience and willingness to partner with our school system during these unprecedented times.
