SMMS Students Win Junior Chef Competition

Top Chefs

Move over Top Chef... the St. Marys Middle School Junior Chefs are coming for your job!

Using Georgia grown ingredients to create a healthy and delicious vegetable side dish, three teams from SMMS won the statewide Junior Chef competition held by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE).

2nd place: "Kale Relish"- Curt Rogers and Anthony Ashby

3rd place: "Bibb Supreme" - Wyatt Duggar (now a CMS Cougar) and Jake Humphries

Honorable Mention: "Tropicatouille like Ratatouille but with a Twist!" -Coco McManigal and Amelia Meemken

Students from Dr. Pam Lassiter's Sciences classes submitted the recipes to the competition as part of their real world application in their STEM studies.

All approved recipes will be available in a few weeks GaDOE in a recipe book and they may even make a special appearance in the SMMS cafeteria using produce from our Agriculture students.

We are so proud of our students for their ingenuity and hard work in creating delicious recipes with Georgia harvest produce.
