🕷 Spider Soup in First Grade! 🕸

Our first graders in Mrs. Renshaw’s class have been learning all about animal adaptations and what animals need to survive! Last Friday, students participated in a hands-on science experiment to simulate how spiders liquify their prey before eating.

The bowl acted as the spider’s web, the sugar cube was the “prey,” and the water represented the spider’s special digestive enzymes (or as the kids called it… spider slobber! 😄).

Learning is so much more fun when we can see it and try it! 🧠✨
Way to go, Eagles! 💙

Recently, our youngest Eagles had so much fun celebrating with a Sugarmill Spirit Day and outdoor fun with friends! 💙💛

This week (October 6 – 10) we’re joining schools across the state in recognizing the importance of early learning. Our Pre-K students even received a special book — Every Amazing Story — from Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp, written by Coy Bowles and Malcolm Mitchell. 📚✨

We’re so proud of our littlest learners and their amazing teachers who make every day an adventure in learning and growing! 🦅💛

📚✨ Camden’s 1st District RESA representative, Dr. Morris, visited SES recently to share the story Hey, Little Ant with our 1st and 2nd graders! 🐜

The book sparked curiosity and movement as students acted out parts depending on which character was speaking. This powerful story encourages kids to think about empathy, respect, and valuing all living things—big or small. 🌎❤️

A huge thank you to Dr. Morris for bringing both learning and fun to our Eagles! 🦅

SCIENCE + MATH FUN in 2nd Grade! 🎉

Our 2nd graders had two awesome hands-on learning experiences last week:

Place Value Practice
Students used Cheez-Its as hundreds, pretzels as tens, and M&Ms as ones to build and represent 3-digit numbers. A salty & sweet way to bring base-ten place value to life!

States of Matter Coke Floats
Science got delicious as students explored how solids, liquids, and gases change while enjoying an ice cream Coke float experiment. Learning never tasted so good!

Way to go, 2nd grade Eagles— and shoutout to our 2nd grade teachers for making math & science both fun and memorable for students!! 🦅💙💛
