𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰: School buses are the most regulated vehicles on the road. They’re designed to be safer than passenger vehicles in preventing crashes and injuries, and in every state, stop-arm laws exist to protect children from other motorists. If you are driving, remember these simple rules: – 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 — don’t speed up — because the bus is preparing to stop. There are - likely students waiting to get on the bus or parents waiting nearby to pick up children. – 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 — and wait at least 20 feet behind the bus — because children are getting on or off the school bus. Stay stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving. – 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, particularly in the morning or mid-afternoon, around school arrival and dismissal times. Be alert as you back out of a driveway, or drive through a neighborhood, school zone or bus stop. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧: Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Teach them to play it SAFE: – 𝐒tay five steps away from the curb. – 𝐀lways wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the bus driver signals for you to board. – 𝐅ace forward after finding a seat on the bus. – 𝐄xit the bus after it stops and look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street.

Car Dismissal Data Update: Day 3 8/12/24 3:15 - 3:38 (108 cars - 23 minutes) Thank you all for navigating the new two lane procedure yesterday. Here is a graphic that should help everyone know what to do upon arrival. By utilizing two lanes we can avoid the frustrating merger that was happening at the intersection. (The two lane usage is for dismissal only, morning drop-off remains the same procedure.) Please remember that cars should line up starting at 2:30 and not before.

Car Rider Dismissal: We are continuing to refine the car dismissal process with many new staff, students, and parents learning the routine. Please make sure to have the student name card on your dashboard so it is visible to staff on Monday. This new neon green sheet was sent home on Friday with all students. Also, please don’t line up at the school prior to 2:30. We know that waiting in the car line can be frustrating. Dismissal starts at 3:15 to help get the flow of traffic going so buses can get moving as they get to school. Arriving at the school closer to 3:30 should shorten your time waiting. Our goal is to have everyone picked up by 3:45 or earlier (<30 minute dismissal). Dismissal Data for perspective: First Day Last Year 8/2/23 - 3:07 start and 3:49 finish (136 cars, 42 minutes) First Day This Year 8/8/24 - 3:16 start and 4:05 finish (135 cars, 49 minutes) Random Selected Days: 8/24/23 - 3:13 start and 3:36 finish (89 cars, 23 minutes) 9/25/23 - 3:14 start and 3:36 finish (94 cars, 22 minutes) 2/22/24 - 3:13 start and 3:36 finish (87 cars, 23 minutes)
Happy first week of school everyone! It was great seeing everyone these first few days. Starting on Monday, MLG will be back to our regular arrival and dismissal procedures. Car drop-off is from 8:00 - 8:30 around the back side of the school and buses only drop off out front. Car dismissal will begin at 3:15 each day.

Pick-up: Car pick-up will occur in the same location as last year with some changes. Students will wait just inside the building each day during pick-up and will be called when you enter the loading area (see #1 in the image). This keeps our pick-up routine consistent, not weather dependent, and overall safer for our students. We will open the gate at 3:10 each day, the first car should pull up to the start of the loading area and wait for directions. (See #1) At 3:15 the first car will pull all the way down (see #2), as directed by staff. We will load the cars as students come out, when you have all your students loaded you can exit the line using the left lane (See #3). If your child has not made it out yet, continue to pull forward until you reach the end of the building (see #4) Please bear with us the first few days as we get staff as we may be running a bit slower than normal. Thank you for assistance in making this change.
We are so excited to welcome students back TOMORROW, Thursday, August 8th!! #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden

Camden County Schools will be closed Monday, August 5, 2024, and Tuesday, August 6, 2024, for all staff and students.
