Camden County Schools is sharing an update with St. Marys Elementary families regarding the school's temporary relocation as remediation efforts related to the bat infestation continue.

Until further notice, St. Marys Elementary School will continue operating from the College of Coastal Georgia, located at 8001 Lakes Boulevard in Kingsland. Instruction will continue as scheduled, with school hours remaining the same. Bus transportation will be provided, including for students who typically walk to school. Breakfast, lunch, and recess will continue for all students.

Morning Extended Day Program (EDP) will be held at Sugarmill Elementary School, with transportation provided to the College of Coastal Georgia. After-school EDP will continue as scheduled at the college.

Students who do not attend during the temporary relocation will have absences administratively excused, and make-up work will be available upon return.

The previously scheduled teacher work day on Friday, January 23, has been postponed, making it an instructional day at the College of Coastal Georgia.

The district understands this extension may be disappointing and appreciates the patience and flexibility of families and staff. The remediation process involves required inspections and clearances to ensure the building is safe for reoccupation. Student and staff safety remains the district's top priority.

Camden County Schools will host a virtual meeting on Monday, January 26, at 11:00 a.m., featuring Wildlife Biologist Trina Morris with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, to provide information on bats and the remediation process with families.

Additional updates will be shared as information becomes available.

Camden County Schools is grateful to the College of Coastal Georgia for their continued support during this time.
