Notice of Property Tax Increase

2025 Property Tax Digest and 5 Year History of Levy

The Camden County Board of Education today announces its intention to increase the property taxes it will levy this year by 1.43% percent over the rollback millage rate.

Each year, the board of tax assessors is required to review the assessed value for property tax purposed of taxable property in the county. When trends of prices on properties that have recently sold in the county indicate there has been an increase in the fair market value of any specific property, the board of tax assessors is required by law to re-determine the value of such property and increase the assessment. This is called a reassessment.

When the total digest of taxable property is prepared, Georgia Law requires that a rollback millage rate be computed that will produce the same total revenue on the current year's new digest that last year's millage rate would have produced had no reassessments occurred.

The budget adopted by Camden County Board of Education requires a millage rate higher than the rollback rate of 14.788 mills. The 2024 millage rate was 15.000 mills. The district will maintain the rate at 15.000 for 2025. The board must arrange three public hearings to allow the public an opportunity to express their opinions on the proposed millage rate.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at Camden County Schools Administration Building, 311 South East Street, Kingsland, Georgia 31548 on September 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

An additional public hearing will be held on September 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Camden County Schools Administration Building, 311 South East Street, Kingsland, Georgia 31548.

The millage rate will be set at a special called meeting on September 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Camden County Schools Administration Building, 311 South East Street, Kingsland, Georgia 31548.
