⚡🔌 Learning Comes Alive in 5th Grade Science at DLRES! 🔌⚡
As part of their electricity unit, Mrs. Thrift’s 5th grade scientists had a special guest visit from Mrs. Crystal Godfrey of Georgia Power! Students enjoyed hands-on investigations and real-world insights into how electricity works.
Students explored how circuits are created, identified the components needed to keep a circuit flowing, and learned how electricity powers our everyday world. Using energy tubes and a variety of materials, they tested conductors and insulators, then built and tested their own circuits using batteries, wires, and light bulbs.
After mastering a basic series circuit, students were challenged to think like engineers by designing a parallel circuit, just like those used in modern buildings. 💡
Mrs. Godfrey also shared inspiring videos highlighting the many careers within the power industry, helping students see how their classroom learning connects to real-world jobs and applications.
A big thank you to Georgia Power and Mrs. Godfrey for sparking curiosity and powering up learning! ⚡👏
