Camden County Schools Issues Statement to Community Following Arrest of High School Teacher
We are issuing this urgent message to inform you about a serious personnel matter and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to student safety within Camden County Schools. The Camden County Sheriff’s Department has notified us of the arrest and charging of a Camden County High School teacher with multiple felonies. These charges stem from alleged inappropriate conduct involving a current student.
Upon receiving an anonymous tip regarding inappropriate behavior on May 19th, school officials immediately launched an internal investigation. Concurrently, we promptly reported these serious allegations to local law enforcement. The teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave, prohibiting any contact with students or presence on school grounds. Since becoming aware of these allegations, Camden County Schools has been, and will continue to be, in full and complete cooperation with all investigating law enforcement agencies. We are working closely with the City of Kingsland Police Department, St. Mary’s Police Department, Camden County Sheriff’s Department, and the State’s Attorney’s Office. Due to the ongoing nature of the criminal investigation, we are limited in the specific details we can share publicly at this time.
We understand that an incident of this nature can be deeply concerning and may raise many questions and anxieties among our students, parents, and families. Please be assured that student safety is, and always will be, the absolute top priority for Camden County Schools. To provide support during this difficult time, we will have additional counseling and support services available at Camden County High School for any student who may need to process these events or require assistance. Students can speak with a school counselor or administrator at any time. We are committed to transparent communication while respecting the integrity of the ongoing legal process. We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action.
