Camden County High School (CCHS) senior, Connor Clark, has been named STAR Student, an honor recognizing Georgia's highest-achieving students and the educators who have played a meaningful role in their success.
The STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) program recognizes students who earn the highest SAT score in their school on a single test date and rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Each STAR Student selects a STAR Teacher to share in the recognition. Clark and his chosen teacher were honored during the STAR Luncheon hosted by the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys.
Clark selected David Limbach, Audio/Video Technology and Film teacher at CCHS, citing his lasting impact both inside and outside the classroom:
Mr. Limbach taught me about how much effort goes into the little things in the creative process. Even outside of filmmaking, you can put so much attention to detail into the storytelling process, and it always matters. As a teacher, he highlights a lot of human and emotional skills that I lacked before high school, and I have only ever come to value that more.
Clark plans to major in computer science and pursue software engineering, with hopes of one day working as a game designer and developer:
I love game development so much, and being able to create my own games AND get paid would be awesome.
During the luncheon, Limbach spoke about Clark's character and the impression he has left of the school community:
This young man is so inspiring, so delightful, and so welcoming that I often forget that I am his teacher and just think of him as my friend.
Camden County Schools thanks the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys for hosting the STAR Luncheon and for their continued support of students and educators throughout the community.
