Seven boys from a sleepy little town in South Georgia, training with minimal resources, showed up at the GHSA 6A State Championship and finished 14th out of 34 teams. That result speaks volumes about the caliber of these athletes.
Every year they battle weather, pool access, and constant challenges. This weekend, they stepped onto the blocks they lined up against the giants—and proved they belong. 💪🏊‍♂️

Camden County High School students in Mr. Smith’s class recently enjoyed a field trip to the Kingsland Welcome Center. 🚂

During the visit, students participated in a scavenger hunt, explored the model train display complete with a working train, and learned more about the City of Kingsland and Camden County.

A special thank you to Mayor Grayson Day and the staff at the Kingsland Welcome Center for giving our students the royal treatment. 👑

Yesterday, Mrs. Andrews's 1st Grade Gifted Class at KES explored rainbows! Sir Isaac Newton first studied rainbows using prisms to reveal how light splits into colors. His research helped us understand optics and rainbow formation. By combining refraction, reflection, and dispersion, sunlight and water droplets create the captivating spectrum we see.
These first graders created a rainbow with water and sunlight, blending art and physics.

✨ Teacher Spotlight: Veronica Rodriguez – Kingsland Elementary School Teacher of the Year ✨

Ms. Veronica Rodriguez is a 1st grade teacher who brings heart, purpose, and passion into her classroom each day. With four years in education, she is dedicated to creating a space where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired.

Ms. Rodriguez became a teacher to be the person she needed as a child and the teacher she hopes her own daughters will have. She believes strongly in the power of representation and works to ensure her students—especially minority students—see themselves reflected in their learning and in their possibilities. Her goal is to help every child feel seen, empowered, and confident in chasing their dreams.

For her, the best part of teaching is building meaningful relationships with students and watching them grow proud of themselves. Being a source of comfort and support to those in need is what makes her work especially rewarding.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Rodriguez enjoys doing puzzles, taking walks while listening to audiobooks, and—even more uniquely—saving spiders whenever she can! If she weren’t a teacher, she would pursue a career as a child psychologist or behavioral therapist, continuing her passion for student support.

Her guiding motto reflects her impact:
“Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change their world.”
