Happy National Principals Month! 🎉 Dr. McManigal, principal of St. Marys Middle School, has taken a moment to share her favorite thing about being a principal:
"As a product of Camden County Schools, one of my favorite aspects is not necessarily about one school, but about our school system. Camden has the best school spirit that brings students, staff, and families together as a whole. The sense of Camden pride fosters a shared identity that makes us all fully connected at all levels whether we are supporting a sports event, competition, or raising awareness for a cause. As the SMMS principal, what I value the most is being able to make a difference in a middle schooler’s day by hoping to make them feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. Life as a middle schooler can be challenging and unique so having a strong support system can make a huge difference in their middle school years."
Join us in honoring Dr. McManigal and all principals who make a difference in our schools! 💙❤️

🧠💜 Did you know that Alzheimer's can begin to affect individuals as early as their 30s? It's a common misconception that it's only a concern for older generations. Dianne Torgeson and Laquita Herron from the Camden County Alzheimer's Project recently visited Builders Club and Jr. Beta students from Camden Middle School for the Walk kickoff party. The students gained valuable insights into Alzheimer's and ways to help prevent it. They also had fun with photo ops and crafted scarecrows, which are now beautifully displayed for the scarecrow walk. You can see these creative scarecrows and support the cause at the Alzheimer's Walk on the 26th. We invite everyone to join us in raising awareness and making a difference! 🌾📸

Happy National Principals Month! 🎉 Dr. Lang, principal of Crooked River Elementary School, has taken a moment to share his favorite memory as a principal:
"My favorite memory as a principal involves an unexpected adventure that had the whole school talking for weeks. One day, an alligator wandered onto our campus, sending students and staff into a frenzy. With quick thinking and a trusty dog leash, I managed to lasso the wayward reptile and guide it safely away from the school grounds. It was a wild, unforgettable day that showcased not only my love for the students' safety but also a bit of bravery and humor!"

Last week, Mary Lee Clark Elementary School third graders pretended to be Paleontologists and excavated dinosaurs to kick off their fossil unit. 🦖🦕 Student teacher, Ms. Wensel, planned a fun, engaging lesson that explained who studies fossils, what a fossil is, and how they are formed. To wrap up the day, students shared their discoveries with the class, using the new vocabulary words they had learned, such as "paleontologist," "sediment," and "prehistoric." This hands-on approach not only sparked enthusiasm but also deepened their understanding of the subject, laying a strong foundation for future learning in the fossil unit. 🦕🦖
