Check out SMES 5th-grade scientists in action! 🧪✨
5th grade’s balloon inflation investigation with baking soda and vinegar allowed students to determine if a chemical change occurred based on observable evidence (bubbles/gas 🫧 and temperature 🌡️ change).
We love seeing these bright minds explore the wonders of science! 👏

History comes alive at CMS! 🏛️✨
Tuesday night, their hallways were transformed into a gallery of legends for the 3rd Annual Living Wax Museum. Their students did an incredible job researching, dressing up, and presenting the stories of Black icons who changed the world.
From civil rights pioneers to modern-day trailblazers, these "statues" taught us that the past is a powerful teacher. Huge shoutout to the students for their hard work and the staff who made this celebration of Black History Month possible!

This week at Crooked River Elementary, Ms. Blalock and their amazing 5th graders brought a small piece of Black History to life with a powerful call and response poem titled “Rosa Sat”! 📖 The poem was inspired by the incredible strength and leadership of the great leaders from the past century, who have shaped a better world for us all. Thank you to Ms. Blalock and her talented students for reminding us that we all have the potential to make a difference! 🌟

The MLCES gymnasium was transformed into a bustling arena of international sport with their own Winter Olympics in PE! Inspired by the excitement of the 2026 Milano Cortina Games, students engaged in activities that built teamwork, endurance, and global spirit. Students rotated through a series of creative, adapted winter events designed to build coordination and fitness while having fun:
Scooter Board bobsled & Luge: Students went feet-first (luge and bobsled) on scooters, maneuvering through courses and "flying" into safety mats.
Gymnasium Curling: Using scooters try to aim for the corresponding dot in the center of the court.
Snowboard Simulation: Using balance boards students worked on balance and rhythm.
Ice Hockey: Students maneuvered soft pucks/balls into goals
Speed & Figure skating: Using scarves students raced around a track or preformed turns and spins.

Exciting Science Experiment Update from Mrs. Dayment's second and third-grade W.I.N. students at CRES! 🧪Our curious young scientists dived into a fascinating exploration of how different liquids interact with candy hearts. From water to vinegar, oil, and soda, they observed some surprising transformations! Watching the candy hearts dissolve at varying speeds and witnessing bubbles in vinegar and soda left our students in awe. This hands-on experiment not only sparked wonder but also honed our students' prediction-making and observation skills. 🔍 Discovering how substances react differently has never been more fun! Keep up the great work, young scientists! 🌟

Ms. Melvin’s 5th grade math class at MHES brought the excitement of the Winter Olympic Games right into the classroom!
Students didn’t just compare scores they became researchers! They explored different winter events to discover the math behind the action. From the angles in ski jumps, to the degrees of rotation in figure skating spins, to finding the combined scores in the Nordic Combined, students uncovered real-world math concepts in every event. 📐⛷️⛸️
Using official-style scores such as 97.325, 97.318, and 97.402, they practiced ordering and comparing decimals all the way to the thousandths place, quickly realizing how every tiny digit can make the difference between gold and silver. 🥇🥈🥉
This hands-on activity combined research, critical thinking, and place value skills showing students that math truly is everywhere, even on the world’s biggest winter stage!
