Whether they're building towers in the block center or baking up pretend treats during dramatic play, SES Pre-K students are doing much more than having fun. Through play, they're building early math skills, expanding their vocabulary, solving problems, using their imaginations, and learning how to work and play alongside their friends.🧠💛

Students recently welcomed the newest member of the Crawfish family, a bunny they voted to name Tater!🐰🥔And if that wasn't exciting enough, students also got to enjoy the fruit of their labor as they harvested their first ripe watermelon from the garden!🍉
From caring for animals to watching something they planted grow all the way from seed to snack, these hands-on experiences are giving students opportunities to learn, explore, and see the rewards of their hard work firsthand.
We can't wait to see what grows next at WES!🌱❤️

As our students settle into a new school year, we ask everyone in our community to take a few extra moments to help keep them safe as they travel to and from school.
Whether you’re driving through a neighborhood, approaching a school bus stop, or traveling near a school campus, please stay alert. Slow down, eliminate distractions, and watch carefully for students who may be walking, riding bicycles, or crossing the street.
For drivers:
• Stop for school buses when the stop arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.
• Obey posted school zone speed limits.
• Never pass a stopped school bus unless permitted by law.
• Stay alert for students at bus stops, crosswalks, and near roadways, especially during the busy morning and afternoon hours.
For parents and students:
• Arrive at bus stops a few minutes early and wait a safe distance from the roadway.
• Cross the street only when instructed by the bus driver, and always look left, right, and left again before crossing.
• Use designated crosswalks whenever possible and never cross behind a school bus.
• Stay aware of your surroundings by keeping phones and headphones put away while walking.
The start and end of the school day are some of the busiest times on our roads. A little extra patience and attention can help ensure every student arrives safely at school and returns home safely each day.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep our students safe.

As a follow-up to our previous communications regarding the fire at David L. Rainer Elementary School on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, we wanted to provide additional information following the completion of the investigation and facility assessments.
The investigation determined that the fire was electrical in nature. Emergency responders arrived quickly and successfully contained the fire. While the fire damage was limited to one area of the building, heavy smoke and soot affected multiple classrooms on the B Wing.
Professional remediation and restoration efforts began immediately and continue as crews work to safely clean and restore the affected areas. We are also finalizing plans for temporary classroom relocations and will share additional information with the families of impacted students as soon as those details are confirmed.
We look forward to welcoming our families to Open House this evening, Monday, August 3, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Families are welcome to arrive at any time during those two hours.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We are grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through this process. We will continue to keep you informed as restoration efforts progress.

Local officials and insurance representatives have completed their assessments and confirmed that the fire damage is limited to one wing of the school. That area has been isolated while remediation efforts begin, and the remainder of the school will be accessible for students and staff to continue normal operations.
We are happy to share that Open House will be held on Monday, August 3, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Families are welcome to arrive at any time during those two hours. We will no longer use the previously scheduled alphabetical arrival times.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we worked to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We look forward to welcoming our Tiger families on Monday and our students back for a wonderful school year on Wednesday.

Only 5 more days until the first day of school! We can't wait to see all of our students back in the classrooms on Wednesday, August 5th! 📚✨

Late Tuesday evening, July 28, a fire occurred at David L. Rainer Elementary School. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and the fire was successfully contained. We are currently working with local officials and our insurance representatives to assess the full extent of the damage to the school and other property. At this time, the complete scope of the damage is still being determined.
Because the building is being assessed, Open House will be postponed. We are not yet able to provide a new date and time but will share an update with families on Friday, July 31, as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We appreciate your support and will continue to keep you informed.
