🌿 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 🌿

Your mind matters just as much as anything else you take care of every day. It’s okay to slow down, take a break, and check in with yourself. Progress doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be real.

Take a moment this month to breathe, reset, and reach out if you need support. You’re not meant to handle everything alone.

Camden County FFA had the incredible opportunity to attend the Georgia FFA State Convention, where students experienced leadership, learning, and recognition at the highest level. Throughout the convention, members connected with state officers, explored the career and trade expo, and heard from influential speakers who challenged them to grow as leaders and make a difference in their communities.

One of the highlights of the convention was the recognition of members for their hard work and dedication. Students receiving the State FFA Degree—the highest degree the state can bestow upon its members—included Ryen Hanson, Lillianna Dangerfield, Joslyn Peterson, Grant Garman, Van Blount, Addison Slice, Carter Stone, Zachary Hall, Briana Dougherty, Harleigh Anderson, and Ayden Neuman. This prestigious honor recognizes commitment to agricultural education, leadership, and service.

Camden County FFA also celebrated several outstanding competitive achievements:
🌟 Connor Roberts was named 2nd in the state in Forestry Management and Products Proficiency, reflecting more than two years of dedication to his Supervised Agricultural Experience.
🌟 Briana Dougherty earned 1st place in Division 5 for her Agriscience Fair project in Food Processing titled Frozen Versus Fresh.
🌟 Grant Garman placed 2nd individually in Veterinary Science, competing against students from across the state.

To make the week even more memorable, Camden County FFA was awarded a Gold Emblem for the National Chapter Award, placing the chapter among the top 10% of FFA chapters in Georgia. This honor advances Camden County to the national level, where the chapter will be evaluated for a three-star national ranking.

Camden County FFA continues to demonstrate that hard work, leadership, and passion for agriculture open doors to incredible opportunities. The chapter is proud of every student who represented Camden with excellence and looks forward to their continued success. 💙💛

This week, Mrs. Amey's Pre-K class at KES explored methods to reduce, reuse, and recycle as part of initiatives to promote environmental conservation. Through Earth-themed small groups, the students focused on their math and motor skills. They creatively reused materials like newspaper and plastic bottles to craft innovative paper-mache Earth models and rockets. The students developed a profound appreciation for reducing, reusing, and recycling!

🩺✨ Contraction Surgery Day was a huge success in 2nd Grade ELA at DLRES! ✨🩺

Classrooms were transformed into the I.C.U. – Intensive Contraction Work Unit, where students took on the role of “word surgeons” for the day.

Wearing masks and gloves, these young doctors treated their “patients” by cutting apart words and patching them back together with bandages to form contractions. 🩹

As they rotated through learning centers, students demonstrated teamwork, creativity, and strong thinking skills—all while having fun learning. DLRES is proud of its hardworking “surgeons” and the engaging learning that took place! 💙

On Tuesday, April 21st, 3rd-5th grade students at Mamie Lou Gross Elementary had a special visit from Micah Morris. A Camden County native and 2021 graduate of Camden County High School, Micah is preparing to enter the NFL Draft this week with hopes of playing professionally.
During his visit, he spoke with students about the importance of hard work, time management, and learning from challenges. He encouraged them to believe in themselves, trust the effort they’ve put into preparing for the upcoming Georgia Milestones test, and—of course—listen to their teachers.
Micah also took time to answer students’ questions, sharing personal experiences about overcoming obstacles like shoulder surgery, handling tough losses, and growing from mistakes. He spoke about the influence of his father—his hero—and how watching his father’s work ethic taught him the true meaning of perseverance.
It was an amazing opportunity for their students to hear firsthand how dedication and determination can turn dreams into reality—not by wishing for success, but by working for it.

🌊💧 4th Grade Water Day in Action at DLRES! 💧🌊
Mrs. Benton’s 4th grade students dove into hands-on learning during their exciting Water Day! From experimenting to investigating, our young scientists were busy exploring the importance of clean and healthy water. 🧪🔬
Here’s what they discovered:
✨ Tested different materials to design and build the best water filters
✨ Created water samples representing common household sources and tested them for clarity, color, and pH
✨ Collected and tested pond water for pH levels and dissolved oxygen to determine if aquatic life can survive and thrive
✨ Observed live microscopic organisms in pond water and conducted research to identify what they found
We are so proud of these curious learners for asking questions, thinking critically, and exploring the world around them. Way to go, 4th grade scientists! 👏🐟

Crooked River Elementary recently hosted the Pre-K Child Development Class from Kings Bay Naval Base for a wonderful day of learning and fun. Kindergarten classrooms were filled with creativity and laughter as students explored The Rainbow Fish and created colorful crafts together.

During their visit, the Pre-K students learned about school rules and expectations while touring the library, playground, and other areas of the campus. It was a joy to see these future kindergarteners engaging with current students and experiencing a glimpse of school life.

Thank you to everyone involved for making this walking field trip a memorable and educational experience for all! 🎨📚
