On Friday, March 13th, Mrs. Martin’s Kindergarten class at MLGES prepared for Spring by building a butterfly garden. With the help of Mr. Martin, students measured, drilled, and hammered wood to build the flower box. Students pulled weeds and discussed soil and rocks. Butterfly attracting plants were planted in the ground waiting for the butterflies to hatch in their classroom. Finally, a lesson was taught on living and non-living organisms!

SES Eagles rolled up their sleeves and got to work making their campus even more beautiful last week! 💚 From planting to picking up, the students showed what it means to take pride in their school and serve their community.
This special day aligns with Georgia’s Statewide Day of Service, inspired by 2026 Teacher of the Year Rachel Kinsaul—encouraging students to engage in meaningful service, build connections, and take ownership of the world around them.
We are so proud of these Eagles for their hard work and heart for service!

🌤️ Some weeks feel heavier than others—and that’s okay.

With busy schedules, deadlines, and everything happening at once, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. This is your reminder that tough moments are temporary. Just like cloudy days pass, brighter ones are on the way.

Take things one step at a time, give yourself grace, and don’t forget—you’re not in this alone. 💙

Mental Health Reminder
Fifth graders in Mrs. Bean and Ms. Koch’s science classes at SMES sparked their curiosity this week as they kicked off their Electricity Unit. The students began with "the classics," building simple circuits to master the fundamentals of power sources, pathways, and loads.
After mastering the basics, they "graduated" to Snap Circuits, where they explored complex configurations beyond the standard lightbulb. Students enjoyed hands-on experience integrating diverse loads, including motor-driven fans and sound modules.
Beyond the technical skills gained, the classrooms were filled with excitement as students celebrated each successful connection and cheered when their motors hummed to life!

This week, Pre-K students at KES explored the weather changes they can expect in Spring! The children especially loved learning about clouds and how rain forms. To bring the lesson to life, they conducted a fun STEM experiment called “Rain in a Cup.” The students observed how water droplets collect and eventually “rain” down, just like in real clouds. It was a wonderful, hands-on way for them to connect science with their natural curiosity about the world around them!

It has been a whirlwind of a week in Mrs. Sanford’s PreK class at SMES as they dove into all things weather! Their little meteorologists have been busy exploring the elements through some amazing hands-on projects:
Rain Makers: They crafted our very own rain sticks to mimic the soothing sounds of a spring shower.
Catching the Breeze: They learned all about wind and even experimented with moving objects to create thier own "mini-gusts."
Head in the Clouds: After studying the different types of clouds, they took their learning to the next level by "writing" in the clouds!
It’s been a week of discovery, creativity, and a little bit of stormy excitement. We are so impressed by how much their PreK students are learning about the world around them!

Another step closer for CCHS on the road to the State Championship! 🏆
Camden Robotics had a successful FIRST Robotics District Event.
After two days of competition in Columbus, the team entered the playoffs in 4th place.
Their performance there—combined with their strong showing in Dalton— gets them one step closer to the FRC Peachtree State Championship in April.
Congratulations to these students for continuing the tradition of excellence at CCHS! 🤖🚀

Mrs. Hastert’s 5th grade Shark Time group at SMES just wrapped up an incredible journey through the pages of Olivetti by Allie Millington! ⌨️📖
To bring the book's themes to life, their students dived into two meaningful projects:
The "Two Sides" Mask Project: Inspired by Ernest’s mom, Beatrice, and the way she hides her true feelings and past from her family, students designed masks split down the middle. One side represents the "public" self they show the world, while the other captures the "private" self they keep tucked away—just like the secrets Beatrice held onto. 🎭
Keepsake Boxes: Following the idea that memories are treasures, every student painted their own keepsake box—a special place to guard their own "mementos" and most important stories. 🎨✨

Mrs. Donna Andrews's KES gifted kindergarten and first-grade students explored the life of a significant paleontologist, Mary Anning. From a young age, Anning taught herself geology, anatomy, and scientific illustration. Mary Anning is celebrated as a trailblazer in paleontology and is renowned as the greatest fossil hunter of all time! Following this, the students identified and researched local bird species. To conclude, they created bird feeders to observe these birds at home.

In honor of 2026 Georgia Teacher of the Year Rachel Kinsaul’s Statewide Day of Service, the Woodbine Elementary students rolled up their sleeves and got to work!
During Ag class on March 18, their students took pride in beautifying our school campus—planting, weeding, raking, and caring for the spaces we share each day. 🌼🌿
This day was about more than just cleaning up… it was about service, teamwork, and taking ownership of the school community. We are so proud of the students for showing what it means to lead with heart and make a difference! 💙
