REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) is a mentoring and scholarship program providing promising students the support to graduate from high school and achieve postsecondary success.
In an effort to raise high school graduation rates in our state, REACH Georgia and REACH Georgia School Systems give support to the selected REACH Scholars beyond a financial scholarship. REACH Scholars are also given academic and social support to ensure they graduate from high school and attain a college degree or certificate. This multi-step approach leads to success for each child.📚✨

We are proud to celebrate Mrs. Rowe, a dedicated CMS Special Education teacher with 22 years in education.
Mrs. Rowe chose teaching because of her lifelong passion for supporting individuals with disabilities. She believes in empowering her students to express themselves, build independence, and take an active role in their school community. Her favorite part of the job is watching her introverted students blossom into confident, outgoing learners.
A fun fact about her is that she and her students run the beloved Cougar Café—even though she doesn’t like the taste or smell of coffee!
If she weren’t a teacher, she’d be a recreation therapist, and when she’s not at school, you can find her relaxing by combing the beach for shark teeth.
Her life motto:

This week we’re celebrating Mrs. Samantha Cato, Sugarmill Elementary's Teacher of the Year--a passionate 5th Grade ELA teacher with 10 years in education!
Mrs. Cato became a teacher because she has always loved working with children and wanted to be the supportive guide she once needed—especially as someone who struggled with reading growing up. She now inspires her students to build confidence and discover a love for books. Her favorite part of teaching is reading aloud and watching her students connect deeply with stories.
A fun fact about Mrs. Cato: she’s seen 30 Broadway shows! When she isn’t teaching, she enjoys baking, listening to audiobooks while crocheting, and relaxing on the beach with loved ones.
Inspired by Esther 4:14, Mrs. Cato believes educators are called to lead with purpose, grace, and courage “for such a time as this.”
