Congratulations to Mr. Jones Jr., Mr. Art Turner, Mr. Kale McMillan, Mr. Austin Trott, and Mr. Lee Hutton on an outstanding 5-Year Industry Recertification Review for our construction and welding programs at Camden County High School!

We are proud to share that representatives from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) praised the visit as one of the best reviews they have ever attended. This is a powerful reflection of the excellence happening inside our CTAE programs every day.

This achievement represents months of preparation, collaboration, and dedication from staff across the school and district, including CTAE instructors, school and district leaders, maintenance and facilities teams, support staff, and culinary program students. Every detail mattered, and it showed.

We are especially proud to have GaDOE “Construction Ready” industry certified labs at CCHS, setting the standard for hands-on, career-focused learning in our region.

At SMES, sfter six weeks of reading and competition, Mrs. Hastert hosted the annual Battle of the Books finale for Grades 1–4. Students read 12 award-winning books and competed in classroom Kahoot rounds before advancing to a Jeopardy-style championship. Their knowledge and attention to detail were truly impressive!

📐 Learning Math in the Sunshine at SMES! ☀️
Mrs. Lang’s fourth graders took their math lesson to the "great outdoors" this week to master the concepts of area and perimeter!
Finding the missing side length of a rectangle can be tricky on paper, but it’s a whole lot easier when your classmates are the ones making the shapes! By forming human squares and rectangles, students were able to visualize how dimensions work together to create a space.
Way to go, mathematicians!

MLG and WES 1st and 2nd grade students in Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Wheater's classes had a wonderful time learning about the elements of art during their visit to the Cummer Museum! 🎨
They explored how to navigate a museum and what to look for when viewing different types of artwork, focusing on concepts like value, space, texture, and form.
Students also engaged in artistic expression and analysis, learning how to interpret art, examine techniques, and appreciate a variety of creative perspectives. What a fun and enriching experience!

Students in Mrs. Bruce’s 8th grade ELA classes at CMS recently brought literature to life during a Passion Project Gallery Walk!
After independently reading novels, students created projects to teach key literary concepts like theme, conflict, and character development. Their work included pieces of visual art, dioramas, music compositions, baked goods, and so much more—each one showcasing both deep understanding and personal passion. Students also demonstrated their mastery of ELA standards by providing strong text evidence to support their analyses.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of meeting with our Parent Academy at the Central Office. During the session, Dr. Cato, Dr. Whitehead, and Mrs. Kruschwitz shared important updates on our Consolidated LEA Improvement Plan, provided a review of our assessment systems, and highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen parent engagement across the district. Camden County High School Fine Arts is proud to announce that River Goff (Dance) and Bella Benson (Voice) have been selected for the Georgia Governor’s Honor Program. GHP is a highly competitive, residential summer program for gifted sophomores and juniors.
These students will spend four weeks this summer in an immersive environment at Georgia Southern University, focusing on their discipline. Students attend classes in the mornings and afternoons in specific areas of study, and they participate in a wide variety of social and instructional opportunities every evening.

SMES had a busy and "stretchy" time in Spanish class! Things got a little messy (and fun!) as they made custom slime to mold and form their Spanish number words. There’s no better way to remember uno, dos, tres than with some goo!
