Fifth-grade students in Ms. Tillman’s class at Mary Lee Clark Elementary School created models of plant and animal cells using edible materials 🍪🌱. A graham cracker represented the plant cell, with frosting for cytoplasm and sprinkles for ribosomes 🎉, while a sugar cookie depicted the animal cell, decorated with candies for organelles 🍬. This hands-on project met science standards by helping students identify and label cell parts 🧬, fostering understanding of plant and animal cell structures 🌍. The activity encouraged critical thinking and creativity in learning about cell functions 💡🎨!

In 7th grade Life Science, students in Mrs. McGraw’s classes at St. Marys Middle School discovered how truly unique they are! By comparing their fingerprints to those of their classmates and the national average, they learned that no two fingerprints are exactly alike. 🤯✨

Due to the widespread impacts of Winter Storm Enzo, including icy roads, power outages, and expected freezing temperatures, Camden County Schools will remain closed on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This includes all after-school activities and events.
Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. After a thorough assessment of roads and buildings on Thursday, our goal is to reopen all schools on Friday, January 24, 2025.

After an intense competition spanning 19 challenging rounds, St. Marys Middle School's Julia Bautista emerged as the champion, showcasing her impressive spelling skills. The winning word that secured her victory was millionaire.
Coming in as the runner-up was Camden Middle School's Michael Copeland, who demonstrated remarkable poise and skill throughout the bee. Michael's efforts and determination were truly commendable, and he is celebrated for his outstanding performance.
All participants demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, making Camden County Schools incredibly proud. We look forward to seeing what these bright young individuals will achieve in the future!

Due to the forecasted winter weather conditions (potential wintry mix, icy roads, below freezing temperatures, and low wind chill temperatures), schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
All schools and offices will be closed, as the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.
All after school activities for Tuesday and Wednesday will be canceled.

This week, Mrs. Amey's Pre-K class at Kingsland Elementary School had an explosive time experimenting with baking soda and vinegar to create “Fizzing Fireworks!” 💥 The students not only had a blast with this hands-on activity, but they also got to review alliterations and learn about various New Year celebrations from around the globe. 🌍

This past weekend, the St. Marys Middle School Swine Show Team made their way to Waycross for the exciting "Swine Showdown," with nearly 170 pigs entered!
👏 In the showmanship competition, Frances Blount led the way, finishing 2nd in her class! 🏅 Rylee Leewright also showed off her skills, finishing 4th in her class! 💥
In the weight class competition, Caleb Vaughn and his pig Gerald finished 4th! And Grayson Smith and his pig PP (aka "Pulled Pork") took home 2nd in his class! 🍖🥈
👏 Everyone did a phenomenal job and continues to improve every time they step into the ring. Keep up the great work, team! 💯
