🌊💧 4th Grade Water Day in Action at DLRES! 💧🌊
Mrs. Benton’s 4th grade students dove into hands-on learning during their exciting Water Day! From experimenting to investigating, our young scientists were busy exploring the importance of clean and healthy water. 🧪🔬
Here’s what they discovered:
✨ Tested different materials to design and build the best water filters
✨ Created water samples representing common household sources and tested them for clarity, color, and pH
✨ Collected and tested pond water for pH levels and dissolved oxygen to determine if aquatic life can survive and thrive
✨ Observed live microscopic organisms in pond water and conducted research to identify what they found
We are so proud of these curious learners for asking questions, thinking critically, and exploring the world around them. Way to go, 4th grade scientists! 👏🐟

During their visit, the Pre-K students learned about school rules and expectations while touring the library, playground, and other areas of the campus. It was a joy to see these future kindergarteners engaging with current students and experiencing a glimpse of school life.
Thank you to everyone involved for making this walking field trip a memorable and educational experience for all! 🎨📚

The truth is, much of what you do is unseen, but never unnoticed by those of us who rely on you. Your work demands patience and passion, and it is grounded in a genuine love for students. You are often the first voice families hear, the steady support for staff, and the problem-solvers who keep everything moving forward.
Thank you for the care, commitment, and heart you bring to our schools every single day. We are truly grateful for you.🩵

After reading “Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt” from kindergarten’s HMH Into Reading module, students got hands-on with a fun (and yummy!) worm experiment. They explored science standards by comparing living worms to gummy worms—observing their characteristics and even testing whether gummy worms would sink or float.
Students also measured up to our math standards by using non-standard units (Unifix cubes) to measure and compare their gummy worms. Students practiced counting, aligning cubes, and discussing which worms were longer or shorter.
To wrap it all up, students recorded their scientific observations and conclusions, showing off their growing skills as thoughtful young scientists and writers. ✏️
This lesson was truly incredible... full of curiosity, critical thinking, and just the right amount of sweetness! 🍬

Students explored the Artemis II mission, learning how engineers and astronauts are making history. They discussed major milestones, including Christina Koch becoming the first woman to travel this far into deep space and Victor Glover becoming the first African American astronaut on a lunar mission—highlighting how STEM continues to inspire a more diverse and inclusive future. 🌎⭐
Students then stepped into the role of engineers, designing ways to protect astronauts during ocean landings using limited materials and time. They collaborated to plan, build, redesign, and test their creations, with 3rd grade students especially excelling as many groups developed successful designs. 🐾
Younger K–2 students took part in their own space exploration by learning about the moon and creating models using paint, cardstock, and tinfoil. Their projects captured the moon’s craters and surface while blending art and science. 🌙✨
The day was filled with teamwork, creativity, and exciting discoveries—making it a great day to be a Bulldog! 💙🐾🚀

We are proud to share that representatives from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) praised the visit as one of the best reviews they have ever attended. This is a powerful reflection of the excellence happening inside our CTAE programs every day.
This achievement represents months of preparation, collaboration, and dedication from staff across the school and district, including CTAE instructors, school and district leaders, maintenance and facilities teams, support staff, and culinary program students. Every detail mattered, and it showed.
We are especially proud to have GaDOE “Construction Ready” industry certified labs at CCHS, setting the standard for hands-on, career-focused learning in our region.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this a truly exceptional showcase of student opportunity and program excellence.

Mrs. Lang’s fourth graders took their math lesson to the "great outdoors" this week to master the concepts of area and perimeter!
Finding the missing side length of a rectangle can be tricky on paper, but it’s a whole lot easier when your classmates are the ones making the shapes! By forming human squares and rectangles, students were able to visualize how dimensions work together to create a space.
Way to go, mathematicians!

They explored how to navigate a museum and what to look for when viewing different types of artwork, focusing on concepts like value, space, texture, and form.
Students also engaged in artistic expression and analysis, learning how to interpret art, examine techniques, and appreciate a variety of creative perspectives. What a fun and enriching experience!

After independently reading novels, students created projects to teach key literary concepts like theme, conflict, and character development. Their work included pieces of visual art, dioramas, music compositions, baked goods, and so much more—each one showcasing both deep understanding and personal passion. Students also demonstrated their mastery of ELA standards by providing strong text evidence to support their analyses.
We are so proud of their creativity, effort, and insight!
